Melanie Wigg – Drama Teacher & Casting Coordinator

Mel comes to us as a local girl with a lot to offer. Mel’s passion for theatre all started when she attended Toorak College and was heavily involved with their Drama Department, ultimately being the Dance/Drama Prefect in her final year of school in 1999. Since then, she has studied a Bachelor of Creative Arts at the VCA/University of Melbourne, and has work extensively within Melbourne’s film industry as a Casting Consultant and Production Assistant.

Mel worked for Chameleon Casting for three years and gained extensive knowledge casting television drama and comedy series, short films, feature films and commercials. Having worked with some of Australia’s leading directors, Mel cherishes each and every opportunity to work with actors from all walks of life. She loves enabling self-expression through drama and always ensures that actors feel comfortable in the drama space, as this evokes their best possible performance.

Mel also went on to live in the UK and Europe for two years where she worked for numerous companies including the highly revered live entertainment company, ‘Underbelly’ at the 2007 Edinburgh Fringe. Since returning from her travels, Mel has studied her Graduate Diploma of Education at Monash University and has been teaching Drama on a part-time basis at the Peninsula School.

Mel is also the Market Manager of the Mt Eliza Farmers’ Market. When Kaarin approached Mel about the LTC doing some performances at the market, she was thrilled to showcase the company’s talent. So much so that she fell in love with what LTC is doing and wanted to be a part of the team.
